The right first surgery changes everything.
Gynecologic cancers—including ovarian, endometrial, cervical, vulvar, and vaginal cancers—are primarily treated through surgery. International evidence consistently shows that women whose surgery is performed by a gynecologic oncologist at a center experienced in radical surgery live longer and experience fewer complications. Therefore, the most important decision after diagnosis is not which medication will be used, but who will perform the first operation and how thoroughly it will be carried out.
Prof. Erdemoğlu evaluates every patient individually. Following a review of imaging findings, pathology results, and the multidisciplinary tumor board’s assessment, a surgical plan is developed according to the disease, the patient’s age, fertility wishes, and overall health. Whenever oncologically safe, surgery is performed using minimally invasive techniques—laparoscopy or vNOTES. For advanced disease, the full spectrum of radical surgery is available, including cytoreductive surgery with HIPEC and pelvic exenteration in selected cases of recurrence.
Conditions treated: ovarian cancer • endometrial (uterine) cancer • cervical cancer • vulvar and vaginal cancers • recurrent gynecologic cancers • suspicious ovarian cysts and pelvic masses • precancerous lesions (CIN, HPV).
