FELLOW OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SURGEONS — “TO HEAL ALL WITH SKILL AND TRUST”

Welcome to Prof. Dr. Evrim Erdemoğlu’s Gynecologic Oncology Clinic

Prof. Dr. Evrim Erdemoğlu is a gynecologic oncology surgeon—an obstetrician and gynecologist with formal subspecialty training in the surgical treatment of cancers affecting women. He is a Professor of Gynecologic Oncology and previously served as Head of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Süleyman Demirel University. He worked as a Clinical Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in Arizona, USA (2024–2025), and continues his research collaboration with Mayo Clinic (2025–2026). His work there focuses on HIPEC, laparoscopy, fluorescence-guided surgery, robotic oncologic surgery, and intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) in gynecologic cancers.

In 2025, Prof. Erdemoğlu was elected a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), founded in 1913 and recognized as the world’s largest organization of surgeons. The letters FACS following a surgeon’s name signify that their education, professional qualifications, surgical competence, and ethical conduct have undergone the College’s rigorous evaluation and meet its high standards. The College’s motto—“To Heal All with Skill and Trust”—is not merely a slogan, but a promise: skill represents surgical excellence sustained through lifelong learning, while trust represents care that places the patient’s best interests above all else. Prof. Erdemoğlu carries this promise into every consultation and every operation.

He is the author of more than 111 scientific publications in journals including The Lancet.

A CAREER DEDICATED TO SURGERY

Prof. Dr. Evrim Erdemoğlu,
MD, FACS

A gynecologic oncology surgeon and an obstetrician-gynecologist with formal subspecialty training in the surgical treatment of cancers affecting women. He previously served as Head of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Süleyman Demirel University. As a Clinical Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, he worked on HIPEC, laparoscopy, fluorescence-guided surgery, robotic oncologic surgery, and intraoperative radiotherapy.

“I have devoted my career to a single problem: how to give a woman with cancer the best possible operation — because in gynecologic cancer, the quality of surgery is a treatment in itself.”

EARLY ASSESSMENT MATTERS

Do You Have Any of These Symptoms?

A single symptom does not necessarily mean cancer. However, timely assessment by the right specialist—without delay or unnecessary anxiety—can change the treatment plan.

Persistent abdominal swelling, bloating, or feeling full quickly

This may be an early sign of an ovarian mass.

Postmenopausal bleeding or irregular heavy bleeding

This is the most common symptom of endometrial cancer and should always be investigated.

An ovarian cyst or pelvic mass detected on ultrasound

Most are benign; however, the first operation should be planned with the possibility of malignancy in mind.

An abnormal smear test or positive HPV result

This does not mean cancer; it requires expert colposcopy and regular follow-up.

A diagnosed or recurrent gynecologic cancer

A second opinion from a gynecologic oncology surgeon may change the treatment plan.
