PROF. DR. EVRİM ERDEMOĞLU

Complex Benign Gynecologic Surgery

Benign conditions, operated with oncologic precision.

Not every condition Prof. Erdemoğlu treats is cancer. Myomas (fibroids), complex ovarian cysts, endometriosis and endometriomas, and hysterectomy for benign disease form part of his surgical practice — approached with the same anatomy-driven, minimally invasive discipline as his cancer surgery. For the patient this matters in two ways: the operation is performed with advanced laparoscopic, robotic or vNOTES technique, often without any visible incision; and in the small but important group of patients whose “benign” condition turns out to be otherwise, the correct oncologic operation can be completed in the same session rather than in a second surgery.

Typical operations: laparoscopic and robotic myomectomy (removal of fibroids preserving the uterus) • hysterectomy — laparoscopic, robotic or vNOTES • surgery for ovarian cysts, dermoid cysts and endometriomas with ovarian preservation • surgery for deep endometriosis • risk-reducing removal of tubes and ovaries in women with BRCA and other hereditary cancer risk.

When to seek consultation:

Myomas causing bleeding, pain or pressure; an ovarian cyst needing surgery; endometriosis unresponsive to medical treatment; a planned hysterectomy where you want a minimally invasive approach; a family history of ovarian or breast cancer.
