The most curable gynecologic cancer — when treated correctly from the start.

Endometrial cancer arises from the lining of the uterus and is the most common gynecologic cancer. Its cardinal warning sign is abnormal bleeding — any bleeding after menopause, or new irregular heavy bleeding before it. Because it announces itself early, most patients can be cured, provided staging and surgery are done properly the first time.

Standard treatment is hysterectomy with removal of the tubes and ovaries and assessment of the lymph nodes. Prof. Erdemoğlu performs this almost always minimally invasively — robotic or laparoscopic, in selected patients through vNOTES (no visible abdominal incision) — using sentinel lymph node mapping with fluorescent dye, which stages the disease accurately while avoiding the swelling and complications of full lymph node dissection. He is the author of the Endometrial Cancer chapter in the international Atlas of Pelvic Anatomy and Gynecologic Surgery, and has published on artificial intelligence models for early detection of endometrial precancer.
